Cows killed as cattle truck rolls on Queensland highway

A TRUCK carrying about 100 head of cattle has rolled on the Flinders Highway early this morning.

Police were called to reports of an overturned trailer on the Richmond side of the highway about 400km east of Mount Isa at about 2am.

The driver of the truck escaped unharmed however eight cows died in the crash and seven more were later euthanized.

It took more than four hours to clear the road and herd the remaining cattle together.
