YOUR STORY: Central Queensland equestrians head north

A TEAM of 10 local Rockhampton riders will be heading north to Charters Towers next week to compete at the Pony Club Association of Queensland State Championships for Equitation and Show Jumping.

The Zone 27 clubs being represented are Crompton Park Hack and Pony Club, The Caves Pony Club and Yeppoon Hack and Pony Club.

The team consists of riders from Zone 27 which encompasses the Rockhampton region.

The youngest rider is Oliver Barnes from Crompton Park Hack and Pony Club who has just turned 9 and will be riding at his second State Championship for Equitation and Show Jumping.

Another member of the team is Emily Lang from Yeppoon Hack and Pony Club.

Emily will be competing on a very special horse My Spirited Obsession who is owned by the late Carly-Mae Pye.

These riders have spent many hours in the saddle preparing for this event and will be fine tuning their skills this weekend at a Clinic with former Olympian Guy Creighton at the Gracemere Pony Club grounds.
