CQ homes destroyed in fires

A MAN is recovering in hospital after suffering burns in a suspicious house fire in Clermont on Thursday night.

Scientific police were at the Mimosa St house investigating yesterday, after the blaze started just before 9pm on Thursday.

Fire crews raced to the scene to find the house in flames.

Firefighters had the fire fully extinguished about 1am, after it had re-ignited in the kitchen beforehand.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the man suffered burn to his back, lower legs and both arms, and was taken to Clermont Hospital.

This is the second house fire in the region this week, after a home in Kawana was destroyed by a fire on Wednesday.

It's believed an electrical issue may be the cause of the fire.

Cathedral of Praise Pastor Greg Frost had been picking his son up from school; when he returned, he found his house on fire.

Pastor Frost and his family lost most of their possessions in the fire.

The cathedral is lending a helping hand to the family by asking the community to donate gift vouchers.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out in Emerald on Thursday.

It was reported that neighbours put the fire out in the laundry before any serious damage was done.
