CQ knife bandit hits clothes shop

AN 18-year old man was arrested last night after he held up a clothing store with a hunting knife on Hospital Rd in Emerald yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 3.30pm when the offender left the store with a sum of money from the til.

He fled the scene and was later picked up by police at 11pm.

The woman working behind the counter at the store was not injured.

The man was charged with armed robbery, enter premises and committing an indictable offence.

He was also charged in relation to another armed robbery at an Emerald business on June 27.

He will appear in Emerald Magistrates Court later this month.
