CQU students put on eco show

TO celebrate under-eight-year-olds' week, four CQUniversity students have organised a fun-filled day at the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens on Friday.

From face-painting and box construction, to demonstrations with police, paramedics and firefighters, the free event is one not to be missed.

Student Teagan van der Want, 19, said it would be a great day filled with creative activities.

“The theme is bush to beach: let them grow, and we've got lots of groups going,” Teagan said.

“We've also got schools and parent groups coming.

“It's great for parents to see their kids enjoying nature and being outdoors. The environment is another type of teacher.”

The Bachelor of Learning Management student said Romp in the Park was part of an assignment she was working on with fellow students Jane Downing, Veronica Luckel and Cara MacPerson.

“It's one way of giving back to the community,” Teagan said.

“We've handed out posters in Stockland, gone on the radio, the newspaper. I want to help children learn and experience the best in life.”

It will be held from 9am to 1pm.
