
Horror crashes kill two in North Queensland
TWO people are dead following a horrific weekend on North Queensland roads.
In the latest incident, a 46-year-old man was hit and killed while walking on the side of a road near Airlie Beach early yesterday morning.
Police allege that about 3am on Sunday, the 46-year-old was walking along Shute Harbour Rd when a car left the road and hit him.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
He will front Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 6.
On Friday night, a 30-year-old man from Blacks Beach, Mackay, died near Guthalungra after his car left the road and hit a concrete culvert.
The man was rushed to Bowen Hospital with significant internal injuries, before he was flown to Townsville Hospital. The man died in the early hours of Saturday morning.
