Critical Brothers meeting tonight

THERE will be no brotherly love lost tonight when members of one of Rockhampton’s oldest clubs meet to vote on a takeover proposal.

At stake is the future prosperity and name of the Brothers Leagues Club. And both sides in the split are predicting a tight contest that could go either way.

A big turn-out is expected for the crucial extraordinary general meeting at 6pm where about 5000 members will be entitled to cast a vote.

The proposal on the table, which is supported by the club’s chairman Stephen Parle, is a takeover by the team formed to campaign for a Rockhampton-based NRL franchise.

If the proposal gets up then the southside club will be renamed CQ NRL Bid Leagues Club.

The bid team says it has investment and expansion plans for the club.
