CrossFit fitness craze in Rocky

CROSSFIT is the new fitness craze sweeping the globe, and Rockhampton is no exception, according to the Fitness Centre's Naseeb Jeha.

The workout regime, which is offered at the centre, lets participants take part in a variety of exercises, targeting all aspects of fitness, from cardio to strength.

"The CrossFit program offers constantly varied functional motions at a high intensity," Naseeb said.

Naseeb said anyone from a grandmother to a young boy or girl could take part in the program.

Each year CrossFit holds an international games to find the fittest male and female in the world. Last year more than 250,000 people competed.

Naseeb, who will be having a crack at the competition along with three other Rockhampton locals, said their training would start tomorrow.

Contestants do five different workouts over five weeks and those with the best times qualify to represent the region.

"It's extremely fun and rewarding," Naseeb said. "You never get bored."
