Crowds make MotorFest unforgettable

THOUSANDS took advantage of beautiful winter weather to celebrate the past, present and future of motoring at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Sunday for RACQ MotorFest.

RACQ spokesman Brodie Bott said the record attendance of 15,000, the largest in the event’s 16-year history, enjoyed a host of special attractions and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

“Car lovers and families alike came in their thousands to bask in the sun, the cars and the atmosphere,” Mr Bott said.

“Whether the highlight was seeing a brand new $620,000 Lamborghini, a rare 1904 Rambler or something in-between, it was a car lover’s paradise.

“But while cars were the stars of the show, colourful markets, roving performers, carnival rides and special exhibits ensured there was something for the whole family.”

Visitors flocked to RACQ’s premier community event from as far away as Darwin for Brisbane’s largest gathering of collectable vehicles, including special displays celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the iconic E-Type Jag and 100 years of Chevrolet.

“Almost $11,000 was raised through gold coin entry to the event, with all proceeds going to the RACQ Helicopter Rescue Network,” Mr Bott said.

“These vital community services, RACQ CareFlight Rescue, RACQ CQ Rescue, and RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service, fly more than 4000 rescue missions a year.”
