Cultural Festival at the Heritage Village
SUNDAY: Don't forget to head out to the Heritage Village today for the Cultural Festival.
Usually held as one of the first events in the day's line-up, the Parade of Nations will now be held as the finale to the event, from 5.30pm, in the light of dozens of handmade lanterns
THURSDAY: ALONG with good food, great entertainment and activities for the whole family, this year's Rockhampton Cultural Festival has something new... it's a lantern-lit Parade of Nations.
Usually held as one of the first events in the day's line-up, the Parade of Nations will now be held as the finale to the event, from 5.30pm, in the light of dozens of handmade lanterns
Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council's Community Services Committee, Cr Rose Swadling said the lantern-lit parade was done through co-operation with MDA (Multicultural Development Association), who will be providing many of the lanterns.
"I think it is a nice way to end the event with people from all nations parading together in the gentle light of these beautifully handmade lanterns," Cr Swadling said.
This year's festival will also feature an exciting line-up of featured artists, performing music from around the globe.
Audiences at the Cultural Festival will enjoy energetic and danceable performances by Culture Train and Ziggi Bey Jan.
The featured artists will perform throughout the afternoon at the festival.
Besides great music on the main stage, festivalgoers can tempt their taste buds with a wide variety of delicious food, cooked by local members of the international community.
There is also the chance to get involved with workshops, displays and other activities.
A licensed bar will operate for patrons during the event.
The Cultural Festival will be held on Sunday from 11am, concluding with the lantern-lit Parade of Nations from about 5.30pm.
