North Rockhampton pawn shop robbed
TWO men posing as customers scooped up handfuls of gold jewellery from a North Rockhampton pawn shop and fled yesterday.
They targeted the Antique Curiosity Shop on Little Musgrave Street about 12.40pm which sells antiques, jewellery and operates as a pawn shop.
The woman serving the two men, aged 60, was visibly shaken by the incident but was not physically threatened or injured during the robbery.
No weapons were brandished.
She told police the men entered the store and requested to look at various items of jewellery for sale.
She opened up the glass counters to show them, the men grabbed handfuls of gold goods from behind the counters and ran from the store.
The victim said the two men turned left onto Little Musgrave Street and raced away on foot.
However, Police Media advised an older model white sedan was seen hanging around the shop prior to the theft, and police are interested in locating the vehicle.
The victim was able to provide police with descriptions of the two jewel thieves.
Both men were described as Caucasian, one was 175cm tall, of slim build and wearing long-sleeved navy blue overalls with a black woollen beanie on his head. He had tattoos along his neck line.
The second male looked to be in his mid-20s to early 30s, of slim build, about 170cm tall, wearing long pants and a long sleeved shirt, both dark in colour. He was wearing a baseball cap.
Police set about combing the streets on a city-wide hunt for the two thieves, but were not able to locate them yesterday.
There was no CCTV footage of the crime.
