From serving pizza to yoghurt with better topping choices
CHRIS Allen enjoys his cookies and cream yoghurt with strawberries on top, although it's a big change from the pizza industry.
The Yogurtland store manager is happy to be whipping up yoghurt treats for customers after working in fast food for years.
"Making the transition from pizza to yoghurt, in the general sense it's all hospitality and making sure the customer is happy and satisfied, but I love the environment (at Yogurtland)," Chris said.
Chris, who's been in hospitality for 16 years, is part of the new Yogurtland store which opened earlier this month at Stocklands Rockhampton.
And the response from customers has been overwhelming.
"Some people think it's soft serve; it's not as creamy as ice cream would be, and doesn't have that yoghurt tartiness, so you'd swear it was ice cream," Chris said.
The yoghurt itself seems to be the healthier choice, with the yoghurt being low fat or no fat.
There's even options for those eating gluten free and sorbet which is dairy free.
And it's all about the choices at Yogurtland, from peanut butter yoghurt to cheesecake and all the toppings you can imagine. "People are really surprised at the different flavours," Chris said.
"Stuff like pecan, and there's some weird combinations of flavour people like to try," Chris said.
"The kids love it with lollies and some adults come in and can't decide what to put on their yoghurt."
