Customs seize 20kg of concealed drugs

NEARLY 20kg of precursor chemicals used to make methamphetamines was seized in the past week by Customs officials.

The drug busts included 6.1kg of pseudoephedrine and 12.6kg of ContacNT in parcels from Chain, Hong Kong, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam.

Seized by Customs officers in Sydney, the chemicals were concealed in household dusters, cardboard boxes, shampoos, curtain rods and water pumps.

The importation of pseudoephedrine carries a fine up to $510,000 and/or 15 years imprisonment.
