Cyclone Aleysa blows the favourites away at Mackay meet
THE owners of Cyclone Aleysa, who won race one at the Mackay Turf Club, yesterday were visibly excited.
Owned by the Milner family from Rockhampton, the two-year-old filly won by around a length in the 1050m Pacific National Handicap at Ooralea Racecourse.
"We were really happy with her," Cameron Milner said.
"She's been bred to do it, she's a real good filly, and she's been real handy since day one.
"We've done all the work with her and Lyle (Wright) does a really good job training for us, and it was a great ride by the jockey too."
Milner said Cyclone Aleysa could have a good future.
"I think they're going to give her a bit of a break now, she's a bloody good little filly," he said.
Trainer Lyle Wright, who is based in Mackay, was also pleased with her gallop.
"I'm really happy with these guys that own the horse," she said.
"She ran well, she was a little bit green in the straight but she lived up to what we thought she might."
Cyclone Aleysa won ahead of the favourites Love Red and Watch Me Dazzle Em.
Jockey Jimmy Orman said the horse raced well.
"She went nice, she's got a bit of ability," he said.
"She did a little bit wrong, she was looking around a bit up the straight but it will be better next time."
