Cyclone has Frenchville Frogs triathlon plans in limbo

FRENCHVILLE Frogs Triathlon club race organiser Wayne Clifford is holding his breath in hope that this weekend's triathlon can go ahead.

Race four of the 2013-14 Tuckers Triathlon series is scheduled for Sunday.

But with a low expected to cross the coast somewhere between Tully, south of Cairns, and Townsville, on Friday morning, Clifford was unsure if the race would go ahead.

A severe weather warning for people in the Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Herbert and Lower Burdekin and parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays was in place yesterday.

Clifford had a contingency plan in place.

He said he would hold off making a decision until Saturday.

"Should conditions continue as they currently are, we will make a decision at 4pm on Saturday afternoon," he said.

"Should the winds subside but the seas stay rough we will stage a duathlon (swim and bike)."
