Father and son join Endeavour adventure into outback
CHRIS and Ben Millard are ready for an outback adventure that will take them over 3800km of Australia's roads.
The father and son will leave Rockhampton today on their rally trip as part of this year's Great Endeavour Rally to raise funds for the Endeavour Foundation.
As a first for the pair, Chris said, it was an event they had heard a lot about.
"I've retired so I've got a bit of spare time on my hands now, but we've talked to people who have done the rally and highly recomm
ended doing it," Chris said.
But it was the combination of driving and exploring the outback that attracted both Chris and Ben to do it.
"It's leaning towards cars for me, but Ben has done more camping in the outback than I have," Chris said.
"I think it'll be a great to just enjoy the rally itself, but also the social side of things and getting out and meeting new people."
The circuit will take drivers through outback Queensland, from Warwick west to corner country, and then north and east to the finish line at Bundaberg over 10 days.
With plenty of sponsors including Ray Corrie Mechanical, ProDyno, Kev Brown Butchery and Taurine Pty Ltd, they have already raised $3640, which Chris said would go to regional Queensland areas.
"Some of the money will go towards the local respite for Biloela," he said.
Although Raymond Corrie's plans to go on the trip have fallen through, he will still sponsor it.
