Day happy with form ahead of second major

JASON Day feels he is ready to fire on all cylinders after a strong showing at his hometown Memorial Tournament.

Day finished eight shots behind winner Jason Dufner (-13under) after a final round -2under par 70.

The 29-year-old Australian tied for 15th, his first top-25 result from nine starts at Muirfield Village, Dublin, Ohio, where he is a member.

Day, who ranked No.1 in the Memorial field for stokes gained around the green and inside the top-25 for driving and putting, believes he is set to peak just in time for the US Open in Wisconsin, starting June 16 (AEST).

"I feel like I'm really close to putting everything together," he said.

"I'm starting to see the lines better on the putting green. My chipping and touch around the greens, the bunker and the rough are all coming along nicely."

"That's going to be important because (Erin Hills) is a very brutally long golf course. It's the US Open; it's going to be mentally and physically demanding."

Fellow Australian Adam Scott was left to rue three dropped shots in his final two holes to drop to 31st at one under but, like Day, saw positives signs ahead of the year's second major.

"I've got a bit of work to do. There was lots of good stuff this week, but I just haven't got it under control off the tee," he said.
