Deadline today for Sekisui to submit Yaroomba plans
JAPANESE developer Sekisui House has until the close of business today to submit its final plans for Yaroomba.
Sunshine Coast Council gave Sekisui the March 31 deadline to submit further information and amended concept plans for its five-star international hotel, conference facilities and residential development..
The company needs the council to change its planning scheme to allow the full scale of its proposal.
The council deferred making a decision on the Planning Scheme Amendment in December until further information was provided.
Sekisui's Evan Aldridge said since October the company had "conducted an extensive community engagement program, speaking with more than 1000 residents across the Sunshine Coast".
The design team had been "hard at work reviewing feedback" and investigating whether this could be incorporated into the proposal.
"Sekisui House is seeking amendments to the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme, to bring this major project, jobs and infrastructure improvements to the area," Mr Aldridge said.
The council said on receipt of the information "professional officers will assess the revised proposal and provide a report to Council".
"If a decision is made to propose a draft planning scheme amendment, this would only be the start of a process, throughout which the community has input," a council spokeswoman said
"It does not amend the Planning Scheme at that time."
