Airstream brings frosty change

4.30pm: ZIP up those jackets - the mercury is dropping and winter is well on its way in Rockhampton.

The temperature has dropped in the CBD in three hours from a comfortable 21 degrees Celsius at 1pm to a crisp 16 degrees Celsius at 4pm.

The current apparent temperature is 12 degrees Celsius, colder than at 4am this morning.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Vinord Anand said a deep southerly airstream coming in from Victoria has caused the frosty change.

The BOM forecast for the remainder of today is cloudy, with rain developing tomorrow.

A minimum of 11 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 17 degrees Celsius were predicted for tomorrow.

Brisbane’s current apparent temperature at 4pm was 8.5 Celsius and Toowoomba’s was a chilly 0.1 degrees.
