Dellacqua ready to draw on experience

CASEY Dellacqua looms as Australia's "go-to" woman for the Fed Cup tie against Germany in Brisbane this weekend ... and that role will extend off the court.

Dellacqua, at 29, is the other senior member of the team alongside 30-year-old Samantha Stosur.

Dellacqua will likely be the only Aussie woman in the semi-final to play three matches, two singles rubbers and the doubles with regular partner, Ipswich teenager Ashleigh Barty.

The West Australian, who reached the fourth round at this year's Australian Open, said, like Stosur, she had been through the highs and lows of the sport and was happy to pass on any advice she thought was helpful to Barty and the squad's other teenager, Storm Sanders.

"You go through so many hurdles, especially at their age. It's a hard couple of years, and they can ask Sam and me any questions," Dellacqua said.

Both Barty and Sanders will be expecting plenty of hometown support from their Ipswich and Rockhampton fans, respectively.

Barty said: "I love being at home and I love being in Ipswich.

"I was able to spend the past couple of weeks at home, just chilling out with family, then coming in here for training."

Sanders said while she now regarded Perth as home, she still had family in Rockhampton and her coach Robert Beak was still based in the central Queensland city.
