Desperate job seeker: Woman rejected '3500' times
FAILURE isn't falling down, it's refusing to get back up.
Gracemere mother Letitca Fletcher, 27, says she has sent out 3500 failed job applications so far and with no hope in sight, she's still getting up.
The Morning Bulletin wrote about Letitca's plight last August and sadly, her situation hasn't improved.
After working as a train driver for six years, Letitca was involved in a car accident in 2015 requiring an emergency hysterectomy with the resulting health complications forcing her to quit her role.
Now fully mended, she hasn't been able to secure a steady pay cheque since.
But that hasn't been from lack of trying.
Letitca said she had combed internet job sites and social media daily, phoned employers and cold canvased with resumes (that she has edited and reedited), desperate to break through the wall of rejections.
"My phone bill is huge trying to find jobs,” she said.
The feedback from potential employers has been, "I'm either not qualified enough, or I'm too qualified or they've pulled the job”.
More desperate than ever to find part time or casual work to start providing for her family, Letitca has applied for work throughout Australia, New Zealand and Dubai.
So far, all efforts have been in vain.
In a ray of hope for her long-term career prospects, Letitca will commence studying Nursing externally through CQUniversity next month.
Letitca has a Certificate IV in Heavy Haulage, a HC truck driving licence, a Certificate III in Beef Production and a Certificate IV in Photography.
