Firearms, $42,000 worth of cannabis found in property raid
DETECTIVES from the Toowoomba Major and Organised Crime Squad have disrupted a major drug producer from Tara after searching a rural property and seizing $42,000 worth of high- grade cannabis.
A systematic search of the 40 acre rural property was conducted by detectives with the help of police from Dalby and Tara.
During the search police found four hidden firearms which were uncovered in various locations on the property.
Officers executed a search warrant at the Arnolds Rd property just after 8am yesterday.
Police said they uncovered 9kg of dried cannabis, 7g of amphetamine, two unregistered rifles, an unregistered handgun, a shortened shotgun and a large quantity of ammunition.
A 62-year-old man was charged with multiples drugs and weapons offences and is due to face Dalby Magistrates Court on June 20.
Detective sergeant Brendan Murphy of State Crime Command's Major and Organised Crime Squad said the seizure of cannabis and the removal of four unregistered firearms would be a relief to the community.
"Disrupting a producer of this scale demonstrates our investigators are vigilant and focused on protecting the interests and safety of our rural communities," he said.
