Diamonds in charge after easing to win

AUSTRALIA is one game away from claiming its first international clean sweep since 1999 after overpowering England 55-37 in Bendigo.

The Diamonds dominated the match from start to finish, taking an 18-6 lead into the first change after wing attack Madi Robinson and centre Kim Ravaillion provided shooter Caitlin Bassett (pictured) with five-star service.

Australia maintained the margin to half time (29-17), before the visitors reduced the deficit to seven goals during the third term.

Coach Liz Alexander brought home-grown stars Caitlin Thwaites and Rebecca Bulley, as well as stand-in captain Kimberley Green, on at the start of the last quarter and the Aussies were able to pull away to record their biggest win against England since 2012.

The teams will clash again in the second and final game of the series in Canberra on Wednesday night.
