Save time by shopping online
GROCERIES will soon be just a click of the mouse away for Central Queensland locals.
Woolworths has announced that from tomorrow it will become the first major supermarket to provide online shopping for consumers in Rockhampton as well as Yeppoon, Gracemere and surrounding areas.
Mother-of-five Lyn Sigvart was at the Allenstown Woolworths store picking up her groceries yesterday.
She believes people will be interested in the service because it could save time.
However, she was not so keen on it herself.
“I would not use it because I do not use computers, but my daughters would.”
Woolworths Queensland regional manager Gary Boyer said it was a “proven service” in the major cities and he was confident people here would see it as a “fantastic alternative to going down the shops”.
He said it was a “lifesaver” for busy families.
“For busy families who have trouble fitting in all the kids’ activities as well as work and for workers who never have enough time it’s a great way to avoid all the hassle of shopping.”
Mr Boyer said when customers ordered online their orders would be sent to Woolworths stores in the region to “pick, pack and deliver”.
However, standard prices for grocery items will be higher for online delivery, and this is due to having the “personal service of staff picking and packing your shopping for you”.
