Dingo digger, trailer stolen
A DINGO digger and the trailer it was on were both stolen early Tuesday morning from Coates Hire on Musgrave Street, North Rockhampton.
Acting Officer in Charge for North Rockhampton Police Tom Nelson said the thief caused damage while gaining entry to the property and also while leaving it. “They gained access to the property by cutting a hole through the fencing,” he said.
“They then caused more damage when leaving shortly after with the trailer attached to the back of their car with the Dingo machinery in it.”
An informant heard a large bang at the Coates Hire property at the time of the incident, Mr Nelson said.
The offender was then seen not long afterwards at the United petrol station on Gladstone Road, Rockhampton, at 3.20am, he said. Police said CCTV footage captured the thief leaving the petrol station without paying for their fuel according to the police report.
The digger and trailer are worth $47,000.
The offender of the break and enter to the Coates Hire property is still unknown.
Police are still conducting further investigation into the theft. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
