'Dishevelled' man exposes penis at popular Coast bar

A BROTHERLY outing quickly turned criminal when the eldest whipped his genitals out on an Ocean St dance floor.

William Jack Sullivan, 22, took his visiting brother out for a night on the town on November 18, but things spiralled out of control about 1.55am, a court heard.

Security at Peak Wine Bar called police after they evicted a "dishevelled" Sullivan for exposing his penis inside the bar.

When officers arrived, Sullivan became belligerent and during a pat down pushed their hands away and twisted a female officer's finger.

Sullivan was put into handcuffs and spent until 10am that day sobering up in the watchhouse.

He yesterday pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court to single counts of being drunk and disorderly in a licenced venue and obstructing police in a public place while intoxicated.

Lawyer Lachlan Ygoa-McKeown told the court his client had gotten "carried away" and was "ashamed" of his actions.

Mr Ygoa-McKeown claimed personal references showed Sullivan's actions were "out of character".

Magistrate Matthew McLaughlin described Sullivan as a "drunken idiot" and said while his actions weren't "really serious", he "physically assaulted a female officer".

Sullivan was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service in the next six months with no convictions recorded.
