District fours comp was close

THE trophy for the district fours competition sits in the Yeppoon Bowls Club after a week of intense bowls.

In the final tournament for the Central Queensland District Ladies Bowls Association competition for the year, Yeppoon came up trumps once again.

Played over three days, the first round of competition was sectional play at Gracemere.

The quarter-final match at Victoria Park between North Rockhampton and Yeppoon teams was worthy of any final, while both semi-final games went right down to the wire.

The final was played at Emu Park with the Elly Batts-skipped Yeppoon team against Edna Lewis' Diggers four.

Yeppoon started strongly and looked capable of running away with the match until the Diggers combination worked out their difficulties with the wind and fought back to lose by just four shots.
