JERSEY Shore on Noosa Beach?

It's a far-fetched idea, but with the young party-animals stars of the controversial MTV series looking to head Down Under, would the Noosa locals welcome the notorious cast from the US?

The show is famous for cast of eight, interested in nothing else it would seem besides partying, drinking and sex.

The show has also been criticised for portrayals of Italian-Americans.

Show stars Michael Sorrentino, aka The Situation, and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro sparked rumours the cast and crew would come to Australia after telling US reporter "Australian girls are hot".

"I hear that it's really big, the show over there, so I'd like to see the feedback we get," Ronnie told Hollyscoop.

Hastings St Association president Jim Berardo, an Italian-American who also lived in New Jersey for eight years, said he would welcome the show, but only if it did not portray Noosa in negative light.

"I think we would have to see the storyline and what they going to shoot if it was appropriate," he said.

"Any news is great news would be my first response, but I would want to see what they were planning to do."

A Tourism Noosa spokeswoman said Noosa may not be the best location for the Jersey Shore cast.

"I think that based on the outline of the show and their wild partying ways, the Gold Coast would probably be the preferred venue for shooting, especially with the vibrant nightlife on offer," she said.

"When they need to take time out to relax, chill out and enjoy a laid-back lifestyle, Noosa would definitely then come into its own."

Tourism Queensland were interested in bringing the show to Australia, but said they needed to speak with producers.

"We haven't been in contact with them yet. If we got a call we would be open to discussion," a spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said there was no plan yet as to what locations they would suggest to the producers, although the Gold Coast has been mentioned in other media.

"It would be interesting to see what the (Noosa) locals think about it though," she said.
