Dog squad and police helicopter called in to car chase

A MAN has allegedly sped through Logan in a stolen car after fleeing from police who tried to pull him over.

Police say they attempted to intercept the man on Paradise Road at Springwood before he sped away.

Police helicopter POLAIR 1 then tracked the vehicle which allegedly travelled at speed through red lights before the driver stopped on Isabel street, Loganlea, and made off on foot.

The police dog unit late found the man in bushland near the rail corridor at Loganlea without further incident.

A 23-year-old Victoria Point man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fail to stop a motor vehicle, obstruct police, enter premises and commit indictable offence, receiving tainted property and driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence.

He is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court this morning.
