BREAKING 10:15am: ROCKHAMPTON Police are interviewing a woman suspected of breaking into the Rockhampton Regional Council pound on Quay St last night and releasing all of the dogs.

DDO Senior Sergeant Neill Smith says it's believed the woman broke in with the intention of cutting the padlocks on the doors holding her own dogs in, but decided to break all of the padlocks instead.

He said after the dogs were released she took her own home.

Snr Sgt Smith says council officers discovered the empty cages this morning.

Police were then called and they located the woman who allegedly cut the padlocks.

Snr Sgt Smith said the woman is expected to be charged.

It is understood the escaped dogs have been retrieved.
