Don’t go chasing waterfalls…find them on these drives!

The Scenic Rim is just one place nearby that you'll love.

BRISBANE isn't all bright lights and city slickers.

Bordering the city are some incredible natural wonders, and if you're heading that way any time soon, make sure you take the scenic route.

Here are a few of the best scenic drive and waterfalls to put into your GPS:

Scenic Rim: To the South/south-west of Brisbane, the Scenic Rim is a natural wonderland. Canungra and Lamington National Park offer crystal-clear creeks and fresh mountain air. Tamborine Mountain is the place to go if you want a spectacular view, and the township itself has quaint cafes and quirky shops to check out. Beaudesert is perfect if you want to go horse riding or bushwalking with heaps of trails to keep you occupied.

YOUR WATERFALL CHECKLIST HERE

Lockyer Valley: Head inland for about an hour and you'll find yourself in a tossed salad. They call the Lockyer Valley 'Australia's Salad Bowl' because it has some of the most fertile soil for growing produce. The Laidley Valley drive is the best vantage point for beautiful waterfalls cascading over the mountains.

Somerset: The Somerset region is near Esk and is a water-lover's haven. With an abundance of creeks, lakes and crossings, the Northern Drive is perfect for taking in the sites. For the 4WD enthusiasts, try the 120km trail through Moore, Linville, Monsildale, Jimna and back to Kilcoy.

Moreton Bay Region: Just half an hour north of Brisbane, this is where the countryside meets the bayside. The Northern Moreton Bay Drive is a good one for those wanting a dose of history, and Mount Glorious is one for the scenic lookouts.

Redlands: This is the gateway to North Stradbroke Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Drive - both with stunning beach and bay views. Best part - it's just 30 minutes from Brisbane.
