Fresh off plane from South Africa and straight on field

DOUGLAS Buckley and Nathan Christensen will boost the Southside United ranks this weekend as the A1 Men's squad do battle with Meteors.

Southside skipper Christensen will step back in to lead the side at Rigby Park from 6pm, while fresh off the plane from South Africa, Buckley will look to continue his top-notch form from touring with the Australian Open Schoolboys team.

Wanderers will also make the trip to Rigby Park with both the A1 men and women preparing to take on Sparks.

Ainslee Deeth, who joined Buckley in South Africa, will make her return to the Wanderers women's team along with head coach Scott Deeth.

At Kalka Shades, Park Avenue Brothers face Frenchville Rovers, in the A1 men and in the A1 women Frenchville Rovers go head-to-head with Gladstone Souths and Park Avenue Brothers take on Rocky Souths.

Southside United men's inside player Corey Hardy said with the key duo of Buckley and Christensen back on board, his squad was full of confidence.

"We should do really well, but Meteors are a strong side and we'll have to be on our game," Hardy said.

"Doug and Nathan were out for the last couple of weeks, but they're both back and will bring a lot of strength to the side."

Hardy, who has been with Souths since halfway through last season, said this week's match was all about scoring consistently.

"We really have to focus and just put the ball in the back of the box," he said.
