Dr Barker resigns from CQ Health
DR Coralee Barker has resigned as Central Queensland Health boss.
Dr Barker had been on paid personal leave while an investigation was undertaken into allegations against her of financial mismanagement.
Queensland Health's deputy director-general of Human Resource Services, John Cairns, said the investigation, carried out by an independent external agency, had been finalised.
Details of the findings have not been released.
Mr Cairns said Dr Barker had resigned from her role as chief executive of the Central Queensland Health Service District.
“Queensland Health does not comment on personal and private employment details of staff and will not provide any more information surrounding Dr Barker's resignation,” Mr Cairns said.
Dr Barker, who started in Central Queensland in 2008, had been on leave since late last year.
It was alleged she paid a bureaucrat about $200 a fortnight more than the award rate.
The alleged recipient, who was responsible for people and culture, is believed to have stopped work at the Rockhampton Hospital just before Christmas.
Dr Barker flew to Melbourne yesterday and was reportedly upset about what transpired.
Maree Geraghty is the acting chief executive for the Central Queensland Health Service District and it is understood she will remain in this role for the time being.
The Morning Bulletin was unable to contact Dr Barker for comment yesterday.
