Court intervenes to close Coast bar, restaurant

THE QUEENSLAND Supreme Court has intervened to shut down a Coast bar and restaurant which had been on the market since April this year.

Riverside Bar and Restaurant, owned by the Sunshine Coast Entertainment Group Pty Ltd, was put into liquidation on October 20, following a Supreme Court order to appoint liquidators to wind the company up.

Brendan Nixon and Leon Lee were appointed as liquidators of the company, according to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's insolvency notice website.

Riverside was established at the Sunshine Plaza site which had been home to a string of previous businesses which had failed to last long-term.

In early 2015, the venue, which had been trading as Factory: The Project, hit the headlines when its then-owners closed suddenly, leaving nearly half a million dollars in debt.

Before that it had been the Cow and Anchor for a year and the Pig 'n' Whistle.
