Dream comes true for Rockhampton model

IT MAY have taken Katrina Norton three years to do it, but the Rockhampton model and make-up artist's dream is finally coming true after winning herself a place in the Australian Swimwear Model of the Year competition.

Katrina took out first place in the Rockhampton finals, which were held at the Zodiac Nightclub on Friday night, and has now secured herself a spot in the national competition, held in the Gold Coast in March.

"I'm over the moon, to be honest," she said.

"It's something that I started doing for a bit of fun, but then I started to get a bit more competitive, so I'm really happy to have finally won."

It hasn't been an easy win though, with Katrina maintaining a disciplined fitness routine which has her exercising for three hours a day, six days a week to keep herself in shape.

"I will just stick to what I have been doing in order to prepare for the competition, but I know there are a lot of pretty girls in it and it's going to be pretty competitive.

Things have also been looking up for Katrina in other parts of her life as she has just started her own mobile hair and make-up business, Exclusive Beauty by Katrina Norton.

"It's a bit daunting because everything is happening so fast, but I'm feeling really good about finally starting my business," she said.

So far Katrina, who has been a fully qualified make-up artist since last year, has had a number of bookings in just a matter of days, including three weddings.
