Drinking coffee with the one you love is the best

LOOKING for love? Better know your arabicas from your robustas because new research suggests cafe tragics want more than the perfect figure, they want the perfect coffee.

A survey of 4000 Australian customers by The Coffee Club ahead of Valentines' Day found 36% considered not drinking coffee "a dealbreaker", although chief executive John Lazarou was not one of them.

The chain has more than 200 outlets in Queensland and New South Wales, including plenty of regional towns including Warwick, Dalby, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Toowoomba.

Mr Lazarou said although he would never choose a partner on whether she consumed coffee, but said "kudos" to those so passionate about their coffee.

The survey also found men drank 730 cups of coffee a year, almost three times more coffee than women who drank 260 cups.

"I think men as a rule have probably got a little more time," Mr Lazarou said.

Perhaps the most romantic finding was that drinkers preferred a coffee with a partner above all others, including best mates.
