Driver hit 22 parked cars while fleeing police

A MAN who refused to pull over for a traffic stop in Brisbane has hit 22 parked cars in a bid to evade police.

Tactical Crime Squad officers had been following the white Mitsubishi Lancer sedan southbound on the Story Bridge when they activated their lights and sirens for the car to stop.

Instead, the 35-year-old driver of the car continued along Main Street in Kangaroo Point, turned into Thomas St and accelerated away.

The car came to a stop after allegedly hitting 22 parked cars along Thomas and Rawlins Streets.

The parked cars sustained minor damage.

The 35-year-old Kelvin Grove man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of fail to stop, and one count each of obstruct police, contravene direction (driver fail to state name) and fail to provide specimen of breath.

He has also been charged with 22 counts of fail to remain at scene of a traffic incident.

He is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 7.
