Driver injured in truck crash

BLACKWATER: The driver of a cattle truck that overturned on the Capricorn Highway yesterday was trapped for several hours before being airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital with serious injuries.

The accident occurred 18km west of Blackwater just before 11am.

An ambulance officer said the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue transported the driver, who suffered a fracture to the thigh and a possible arm fracture.

The passenger was transported by ambulance with back pains to Emerald Hospital.

The crash scene was closed to traffic for several hours.

Police said local authorities attended the accident to euthanise a number of injured cattle. Investigations are continuing into the cause of the accident.
