Driver of stolen car still on run

POLICE are still looking for a man who led them on a car chase around Rockhampton on Tuesday.

His accomplice, an 18-year-old Beaudesert man, has since been caught and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing police.

It’s alleged they were seen driving a stolen silver Honda Jazz in the Wandal area about 3.30pm.

They fled when officers tried to stop them, leading police on a chase at speeds up to 80kmh.

The chase finished when the car crashed into another and the driver lost control.

Both the driver and passenger fled on foot.

The driver hasn’t been seen since, despite a report in The Morning Bulletin yesterday saying he had been captured.

This man will face charges of evading police, dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The passenger is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on February 12.
