Driver has arm amputated after crash yesterday afternoon

A MAN has had his arm amputated after a car crash in Rockhampton yesterday.

The crash happened about 3pm at the traffic lights at Jellicoe St and Lower Dawson Rd.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the man, in his 70s, was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious condition.

Police believe the man, who was driving a car, swerved to avoid running into the back of a ute which was stopped at the lights.

They believe the man's arm was injured on the tray of the ute.
