Drivers warned to take care as diesel spills on highway

DRIVERS heading between Gladstone and Rockhampton have been warned to take extra care following what appears to be a diesel spill on the Bruce Hwy.

Gladstone resident Ian Treveton drove from Gladstone this morning, and said there had been a substantial amount of diesel on the highway from Mt Larcom to Rockhampton.

Mr Treveton said even in a 4WD he was slipping and sliding on the road.

"The car is all black from oil on the back," he said.

"I was pulling into Maccas in Rocky and the ABS brakes went on."

Mr Treveton believed authorities had been notified about the issue.

Weather-wise, he said Rockhampton was starting to dry out, but he was heading into light drizzle again north of the beef city.
