DV play scheduled to tour CQ region

A PLAY based on real Queensland stories of domestic violence and survival is coming to the region and creators hope it will prompt discussion about tackling the problem.

The play, It All Begins With Love, is a three-year project from a Bundaberg-based arts group and uses direct experiences from victims and perpetrators who have been interviewed.

It will start touring the state later this month and will be performed three times in the region: in Rockhampton on October 29, Yeppoon on October 30 and in Emerald on November 2.

Creative producer Rod Ainsworth said he interviewed dozens of people for the piece, including perpetrators, and hoped the play would lift the lid on domestic violence in small towns.

"The play, is designed to reflect the 'light at the end of the tunnel' - especially given that it is hoped the play will be used in education and counselling situations " he said.
