East St Christmas Tree to light up on Saturday night at fair

EAST ST in Rockhampton will buzz with life as the CBD Christmas Fair gets underway on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm.

The street will buzz with live entertainment, Christmas stalls, food and lots of fun.

Local Business operator Michelle Hayward said there would be something for everyone from little kids to big kids and all in between.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for families to get together for an afternoon and enjoy the Christmas spirit," Michelle said.

"We've got rides, animals from Cooberrie Park, face painting and fairy floss, and of course Santa will be on hand for some great photos.

"For the big kids, parents and grandparents, we've got fashion parades, arts and craft stalls and lots of Christmas present ideas from jewellery, handbags and accessories to home-made teas.

"Local band Velocity Duo will jazz up the afternoon from 5pm and dance studios will shake up the dance floor - it will be an afternoon of fantastic fun, entertainment and exciting activities.

"To top off the afternoon, Mayor Margaret Strelow will officially light the Christmas Tree at 7.30pm."

The CBD businesses will be open and Fair goers will also have the chance to win a $4000 travel voucher simply by buying goods and collecting a voucher from two participating businesses in the mall.

There's plenty of parking available for a gold coin donation at the Arcade car park.

The event is supported by Rockhampton Regional Council, the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service and Flexihire.
