Eden Bann Weir raising listed as a preferred option by CSIRO

ANOTHER potential project is the Eden Bann Weir, which is shown at number 27 on the map.

The CSIRO's report, Northern Rivers and Dams - A preliminary assessment of surface water storage potential for northern Australia, stated that: "multiple dams in the Fitzroy catchment... could potentially expand the area under irrigation between 40,000 ha and 60,000 ha if the water were used for this purpose".

Raising the Eden Bann Weir is listed as a preferred option by the CSIRO.

After Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull visited the area in February and flew over the site, Capricornia MP Michelle Landry was hopeful of securing funding.

Ms Landry said the PM's visit was a great success and her next step was to get local representatives down to Canberra to push for the Eden Bann and Rookwood weirs.

"I was really pleased with the feedback from the PM and Barnaby," she said.
