Emerald ambulance station reopens

THE Emerald Ambulance Station reopened today after $500,000 was spent on repairs to the building in the wake of flooding in December and January.

Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts said the single-storey station was evacuated on December 30 last year when floodwaters rose.

About 60cm of water went through the station, causing extensive damage.

During the floods, ambulance crews operated from three different sites in the Emerald area.

Mr Roberts said it was a great result for residents to have the station back up and running.
