Emerald drink drivers caught

POLICE say two Emerald drivers are due to face court after they were found drink-driving in the town.

Officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Graeme Reeves said a 34-year-old local man was seen speeding by police on Andrews Road at 12.55pm yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Reeves said he was taken to the Emerald police station where a breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.83%.

He is due in the Emerald Magistrates Court on charges of drink-driving, excessive speed and failing to display a P plate.

Meanwhile at 2am today a 42-year-old man was stopped for a random breath test on Borilla Street.

He was taken to the police station and registered 0.86% and will appear in court at a later date.
