Emerald man charged with assault

POLICE have charged a 38-year-old Emerald man following a serious assault early yesterday morning.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance at a Topaz St residence about 4am.

It was alleged the man had assaulted a 34-year-old Emerald man at the residence by punching him multiple times in the face.

The 34-year-old man was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

The 38-year-old Emerald man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Emerald Magistrates Court on January 24.
