A woman has been injured falling down an embankment on the Tablelands.
A woman has been injured falling down an embankment on the Tablelands.

A WOMAN is recovering in hospital after she reportedly fell six metres down an embankment near Mareeba last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Davies Creek Bridge on the Kennedy Highway about 12.30am.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said she the 42-year-old was conscious at the scene.

Firefighters had to descend the embankment to retrieve the woman and carry her out on a stretcher.

She was transported to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition for spinal precautions and upper body grazes.
