Emmaus Flames fire in Sullivans Senior A Netball comp

AN INSPIRING performance from in-form captain Lucy Loram led Emmaus Flames to their second consecutive Sullivans Netball Carnival A-grade win.

The Flames (2.01 goal average) topped the scoring alongside The Cathedral College Titans (1.90 goal average) to finish undefeated in the two-day carnival.

"I'm really happy with how the girls performed, we came out with the desire to back up our success from last year," Loram said.

"We hope the win will hold us in good stead for the rest of the schoolgirls' competition."

The Flames survived a strong first-quarter attack from RGS Magic in their final game on Sunday to edge ahead with a 14-13 win.

"The senior grades were all closely contested," Rockhampton Netball Association's Nat Hitchcock said.

More than 130 teams contested 467 games in the minis, junior and senior grades for the biggest event on the RNA calendar.

The Blackwater Eagles claimed the Alaric Sullivan trophy, netting the carnival's highest goal average of 8.25 and a win in their Junior G division.

Rockhampton rep teams, the Rocky Allsorts and Rocky 14s, proved they were ready to contest the Netball Queensland State Age Championships this weekend.

"Rocky Allsorts, who are a junior rep team, played in the Senior B and won four out of seven of their games," Hitchcock said.

"The Rocky 14s remained undefeated in the Junior A division."
