Emu Park families set to enjoy sun-safe playground

THE new $185,000 playground shade structure at the Kerr Park beachfront at Emu Park has been unveiled and is already being put to good use.

Livingstone Shire Mayor Bill Ludwig said the 28m x 20m shade structure which covered the existing children's playground at Kerr Park would provide an all-weather facility for residents and visitors to use.

"We know that our community has been keenly awaiting the shade for Kerr Park which will now allow young families to spend more time outdoors in a sun-safe environment, particularly during our hot summer months," Cr Ludwig said.

"Ensuring our community's children have engaging, fun and safe facilities they can use year round is a priority for this Council.

"In our forthcoming budget Council will continue to make provision for upgrading our current facilities while also establishing new facilities for residents and visitors to enjoy," Cr Ludwig said.

Councillor Tom Wyatt, who holds the portfolio for Sport, Recreation, Parks and Community Facilities said The Caves Skate Park, Yeppoon Skate Park and Yeppoon Foreshore Space-net were just a few of the other projects that had already been completed this financial year.

"Parks and playgrounds are one of the best investments any Council can make and are areas that families and the whole community can utilize and enjoy," Cr Wyatt said.
